Nikon D5100 Focus Sound With and With out external mic
To hear the difference if you don’t need the explanation just skip to the last quarter of the video to see the change in sound and focus sound. The one thing I really dont like about the Nikon D5100 is the internal mic really picks up the focus sound from the lens motor. It basically makes the focusing really annoying since you can hear and see it but it is actually not that bad when you cant hear it so with the external mic it helps allot. The mic Im using is just a simple headset computer mic from best buy .99 so there is no wind blocking for it but a nice wireless or boom mic would be even better. As you will see in the comparison the mic really makes the camera one step closer to a video camera (still not focusing on par but close) without the noise.
